Why Rising Together

In 1993, my parents arrived in Sioux Falls as refugees. They went on to open Phở Quỳnh, the first Vietnamese restaurant in the city.

They spent their lives in the back of house so I could build in the front of house. I think about that every time I walk into a room where decisions about our city get made.

What I learned

This year, I ran for City Council. I didn't win. But I learned something I can't shake.

Our city council runoff was decided by 24% of registered voters.

That's not because people don't care. I knocked on a lot of doors. People care deeply about their streets, their schools, their rent, and their neighbors. What they don't always have is a clear picture of what's happening, or an easy way to plug in.

That's a gap we can close.

This blog. Plain-language takes on what's happening in our city and why it matters to you. When I share an opinion, I'll say so.

A place to be heard. Tell me what you care about or worry about in your neighborhood. Your input shapes what we dig into next.

Where we start

November 3 is close. Start with the guide. Find your district, look up your ballot, and make a plan with the people you live with.

Then stick around. The choices that touch your street, your bus route, and your kid's school happen all year long.

It's always been our city, and now is our moment. Let's rise together.
